Lately I’ve been suffering from what I’ve decided to call “fall fatigue” (really, it’s more like “end of summer leading into fall fatigue”, but that’s just way too much to say, so I’ll stick with fall fatigue…rolls off the tongue a little nicer).  So, today, as I’m staring at my computer with so much to do and no clear direction on where to begin or even what to say, I look over and see this…vPINIMAGEV

…and I think it would be so nice to be him for  a day.  Just lay around, sleep, have your belly rubbed and your ears scratched, be fed, watered & walked, lay around some more & not have to think about anything worrisome at all.  Wouldn’t that be nice? But then again, if I was a dog I wouldn’t get to be a wedding photographer and take gorgeous photos like this.  So nevermind, I don’t want to be a dog….but I would like a vacation, soon.   😉vPINIMAGEV

I love Fall.  I’m not going to say that it’s my favorite time of year (even thought right now I totally think that it is) because I tend to say that about each new season when it rolls around.  However, I do adore this time of year.  Something about the cooler temps & gorgeous colorful leaves makes me think of falling in love; cozying up with your honey & spending quality time together just having fun.  Whether you’re engaged, married or just plain ‘ol in love it’s always nice to take sometime out of the hecticness  (I think I just made that word up) to reconnect.

Since family mini sessions are popping up everywhere you look this time of year, I decided to do something special just for the lovebirds.  During the months of October & November I will be offering Couples Only Mini Sessions!  So, while everyone is planning, scheduling & picking out their perfectly coordinated family ensembles, you could be snuggled up with your love for some fun, quality time together.

Dates will go fast, so email me today to schedule your session! emma@emilydeanphotography.com

This past weekend I shot a gorgeous wedding with my friend Mallory of Mallory Katherine Images out on Lake Martin & it was HOT HOT HOT!  The bride, groom & the entire wedding party were all amazing and such troopers as we spent hours outside taking photographs with the stunning lakeside backdrop, but at one point I heard a bridesmaid say “Isn’t it September? Why is it so HOT?!”  Don’t worry sweet bridesmaid, Fall is just 2 weeks away and while it still feels like summer outside, the cooler temps are coming soon, football season is underway & I already have visions of cool nights, sweaters, boots & bright colorful leaves dancing through my head.

I am gearing up for one of the busiest months of the year & I’m so excited.  I love Fall!

Tomorrow I will be announcing something super fun just for all of you LOVEBIRDS out there, so be sure to come back for details.

Happy Monday, y’all!

My favorite photo, after a session, is not the one where everyone is sitting nicely, looking into the camera with pleasant smiles on their faces.  It is not the photo where everyone looks perfect with no hair out of place and no wrinkles in their clothes.  Yes, I know that these photos are important to many people and everyone wants those shots to hang on their wall, but to me, that is not real.  Real life isn’t perfect.  Real life is messy and wrinkled. Real life is silly and fun and a little bit goofy sometimes.  Real life is emotional.  When I look at those photos after a session they are not the ones that make my heart beat a little faster.  They are not the shots that make me tear up or laugh out loud with joy and excitement.  They are the not photos that make me say “Awwwwwww!”

My favorite photos are the not so perfect shots.  The photos that show the real, raw, natural you.  The photo where a mama is snuggling her baby or the one where dad is making a goofy face to get a giggle out of his baby girl.  They are the candid, real moments that aren’t necessarily meant to be caught on film (or digital memory cards 😉 )  I think that is why I love weddings so much.  There are literally hundreds of these moments happening throughout the day and I just gobble them up!

I had the pleasure of photographing the Lawshe family again last week and as I edited their photos I was hit by this realization and had so many of those “Awwwww” moments that I just had to share them with you.

Last year I didn’t offer wedding albums to my clients.  {insert extremely sad face here}  I was just figuring things out and there are SO many album companies to choose from that I didn’t even know where to start.  However, I knew that this was something that I NEEDED and WANTED to offer.  There is just something about seeing your wedding photos in storybook form that is just so amazing.  It allows you to remember the day the way that it unfolded.  It takes you back to those emotions and allows you to experience them all over again year after year.  I wanted my clients to experience that.  So I finally decided on an album company and I am THRILLED with the results.  When I received my first order this summer I wanted to do backflips because not only was the album itself absolutely gorgeous, but it came with the PERFECT accessory. A GREY CHEVRON DUSTCOVER!!!! Are you KIDDING ME?! It matches my branding perfectly….it’s like FATE! A match made in wedding album heaven!!

I was so excited to package this baby up and get it out to Chrissy & MJ that I failed to take photos of the actual album, but I did remember to take a few shots of the final packaging before shipping it out.  I am so excited to be offering this gorgeous product to all of my brides and grooms now.  It is the perfect final touch to an already perfect day.
