So, technically they’re not engaged….yet.  However, Candace is certain it will happen soon and Jeremy definitely wasn’t denying it, so………I’m patiently (ahem, anxiously) awaiting the news that makes it official.  Until then, I’ll share with you their gorgeous (& freezing cold…appropriate for today) sunrise couple’s session.

I met Candace xxx years ago at the University of Montevallo.  I was the cheerleading coach and she was one of the 1st on my squad.  She was always one of my favorites because her attitude and silliness was contagious…she would always make me laugh and I love that about her.

Candace has been dying to have a session with me for a while now, so I was thrilled when we finally made it happen.  Even though it was super early & a chilly 30 degrees, Candace & Jeremy were rockstars.  Candace acted like it was a warm summer day in her cute coral dress while I struggled to keep the shivers (convulsions) to a minimum and prevent my fingers from going numb.

Christmas is over, it’s almost the New Year & Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so you know what that means?!  Lots & lots of glowing girls with new shiny rocks on their left hands!

‘Tis the season to get engaged & it’s never too early to start booking your favorite vendors for your wedding.  Dates are competitive & brides are on top of it, beginning the wedding planning process earlier & earlier these days.  There is nothing worse than having to turn someone away because I’m already booked on their date.

Take Meredith & Donald for instance.  Just recently engaged, they are planning their April 2015 (yes ’15!) wedding and have already started booking their favorite vendors (Shannon Reeves Events, Vulcan Park & Me!) to ensure everyone is available for their special day.

After booking their engagement session with me in November, Meredith & Donald loved their photos so much they immediately booked me for their wedding & I am so thrilled!  We had such an amazing time during their session.  The weather was perfect, the fall colors were gorgeous & Meredith and Donald were naturals, warming up almost instantly to me and my camera.

I’m incredibly honored & humbled to be able to work with such wonderful people.  Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding.

I think that the goal of most wedding photographers is to not only fill up their calendars with amazing weddings, but to have those weddings booked by their ideal clients.  (At least, that’s MY goal.)  Obviously, that ideal client looks different for everyone, but for me those clients look like Ashlee & Ben.  In fact, I’ve been incredibly lucky so far in all of my 2014 bookings because ALL of my clients are amazing.

Working with people who are excited to be working with me, who love me and my work and sing my praises every chance they get to anyone who will listen is incredible.  Working with people who feel more like friends than clients makes my heart sing.  It also makes a wedding day that much more awesome for everyone involved.

That is why when Ashlee contacted me over the summer requesting information for her wedding next fall, I was turning backflips.  You see, Ashlee has been one of my biggest cheerleaders for almost a year now and we had never even met.  She found my engagement session giveaway last year through Facebook (Ahhhh! The magic of social media!) and encouraged her BFF, Bri, to enter.  Bri & Ron booked their wedding with me as a result & have also become some of my favorites.  You may remember their incredible engagement session from this post & this post.  Anyway, I’m rambling.  The point is this…I LOVE my clients & definitely think of them as friends and that makes my life complete.

Ashlee & Ben drove all the way from Atlanta to The Middle of Nowhere, Alabama for their engagement session & they never once questioned my craziness.  We found the most incredible open field, cotton field & wheat field combination & I was in Heaven.  God definitely blessed us that day!  Ashlee & Ben were amazing.  So natural & obviously in love…and their precious pups added an extra layer of goodness.  They made my job a breeze.  I absolutely cannot wait for their gorgeous fall wedding in the North Georgia mountains!!

Hello? Anybody still out there??

I’ve been MIA for a couple of weeks, but I’m still alive & I can almost see the light through the piles and piles of work I’ve been doing.  I’ve almost made it through my 1st official holiday photo season & Holy Smokes, I didn’t see that coming!  Back in November (which might as well have been 10 years ago, or so it seems) I stupidly thought that December would be slow and I would have tons of down time to focus more on my blog (which has been sadly neglected for the past couple of months) & to finish up some much needed household projects.  Wrong.  Wrong, wrong, WRONG.  W. R. O. N. G.

Christmas is a little over a week away & I haven’t bought the 1st gift, I finally put my tree up a couple of days ago & I’m still drowning in editing to finish before I leave THIS THURSDAY to spend some time with my mom for Christmas….and somewhere in there I have to find time to actually go shopping?!! Breathe in, breathe out, repeat.

Even though I’m a tad overwhelmed, I’m incredibly grateful (and a little shocked) for this busy season.  Thank you all for hanging in there with me & if you’re actually here, reading this blog, thanks for sticking around even when I’m MIA.  I promise to do better.

Now, back to editing!

Happy Monday, y’all!!

When I met Ashlyn & Matt this summer during our initial consultation, I was instantly smitten.  They were so sweet with each other and so obviously in love.  Matt was working in Texas for a couple of months at the time and was just in town for the weekend, so the fact that they took time out of the little bit of time they had to spend with each other to meet with me was incredible and I’m so glad they did.

Ashlyn & Matt met in church 5 years ago and have been inseparable since.  During our engagement session at Moss Rock Preserve, they were completely natural and had so much fun with each other.  We had a blast wandering around the woods and boulders trying not to fall on the recently-rained-on-slick leaves and avoiding photo bombers left and right.  {PS.  it’s not a true photo bomb if you ASK to do it first, genius.}

Their engagement session has made me even more excited for their gorgeous wedding this June.

Ashlyn & Matt, Thank you so much for inviting me into this incredibly special time in your lives.  It’s an unbelievable honor and I can’t wait!
